EmptySoft capsules and hard capsules are relatively common empty pharmaceutical capsules, but do you know how they are prepared?
The usual preparation methods for soft capsules are as follows. Let us take a look at two of them.
Dropping method: The dropping method is completed by a dropping pill machine with a double-layer dripper. The gelatin-based soft capsule material (generally called glue) and the liquid medicine flow out at different speeds from the outer layer and the inner layer of the double-layer dripper so that after the quantitative glue liquid wraps the quantitative liquid medicine, Drops into the cooling liquid that is immiscible with the glue, it will form a spherical shape due to the surface tension, and gradually cool and solidify into a soft capsule, such as common cod liver oil capsules. During dripping, factors such as the temperature of the glue and medicinal liquid, the size of the dripper, the dripping speed, and the temperature of the cooling liquid will all affect the quality of the soft capsule.
Pressing method: The pressing method is to make the glue liquid into a film with uniform thickness, then place the liquid medicine between the two films, and press the soft capsule with a steel plate mold or a rotary mold. At present, the rotary molding method is mainly used in production (the shape of the mold can be oval, spherical, or other shapes).
